An open letter from J and K unemployed agriculture youth to state government

We the “All J and K Unemployed Agriculture Youth” demand the due attention from the State Govt. especially honorable CM m/s mehbooba mufti and minister of agriculture Gh nabi lone sb towards the some of the below mentioned grievances.

It is pertinent to mention here that every year around 200 agriculture graduates pass out from the two state agriculture universities viz. SKUAST-K and SKUAST-J and similarly around 100 post graduates. But the sheer injustice is that there has been zero recruitment process in the Agriculture Production Department(APD) from almost last 10-12 years through the service selection board and public service commission which is a matter of grave concern.

J and K unemployed youth

Fromlast couple of years, since your government has taken charge, recruitment was done in almost every department except the Agriculture Production Department.

Around 300 posts of Agriculture extension officers and similarly around 1000 posts of that of Junior agriculture extension officers are lying vacant in the APD however none of the posts were advertised by PSC and SSRB due to unknown reasons. The unemployed agriculture professionals are presently passing through a phase of social and mental stigma and quite unfortunately the State Govt. on 23 Oct 2017 came with the amendment of the recuritement rules via SRO-442 which mentions that the posts of juior agriculture extension officers will be filled through 100% on promotional basis which otherwise was on 60: 40 per cent basis thereby leaving the unemployed professionals high and dry.

So we request hon’ble CM and Minister of Agriculture to change the amended SRO 442 to its original form and also refer all the posts lying vacant in the APD to the PSC and SSRB for fast track recruitment.
